30 years since the beginning of the Russell era

2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Alan Russell’s arrival at Tudor House. Alan served as the 12th Headmaster of Tudor House and he and Denise were at the School with their two children from 1996 until 2008.

Alan achieved much during his 13 years as Headmaster and under his leadership the School doubled in size to almost 200 boys. Significant capital projects were completed, including a new Headmaster’s residence and in 1997, his second year, the School celebrated its centenary. The echoes of Alan’s leadership are still felt in many ways at Tudor House including the Public Speaking and Poetry Competition, the Billy Cart Derby and the strong connection to our historical roots.

After Tudor House, Alan was the Principal of St Peter’s Anglican College in Broulee for a number of years before he and Denise moved to the South Coast where they still reside today.

Last term, at the invitation of Mr Larby, Alan and Denise returned to Tudor House and caught up with former colleagues, presented awards at Assembly and met student leaders and the children of students they taught.

Alan’s message to the students was to never say no to opportunities at Tudor House and make the most of the outdoor spaces. Old Tudorians know that this advice is worth heeding and will fondly remember the broad opportunities from their time at Tudor House and the expanse and beauty of the Moss Vale campus.
