The Headmaster and the Chairman of Council of The King’s School, along with the Governors and the School Executive take great delight in announcing the launch of the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan.
The end result of an exhaustive eighteen-month process that was first mooted when the Headmaster was appointed in 2017; involved the wider community through the McCrindle Research project; took contributions from staff at all levels and hundreds of hours of contemplation and deliberation by the Executive and Governors of the School, the Strategic Plan has been ratified by Council and prepared for today’s release.
Chairman of Council, Mrs Rosemary Abrahams summarizes the intent of the plan, “Our approach about educating boys, and now girls, across the three campuses of The King’s School is one of constant evolution that ensures we lead with expertise and is delivered within the environment of a Christian Community”.
The plan’s centrepiece is focussed upon The King’s Distinctives of Academic Excellence, Character Development and Christian Community and how these distinctives might be developed and grown in the decades ahead.
Underpinning these distinctives are our values: Compassion, Humility, Respect, Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility and Excellence, which are foundational to the life of the School and our Community. Such was the strength of the voice of our Community during the McCrindle research that we adopted three new values in the set above.
Headmaster Tony George reflects upon the plan and its intent, “This strategic plan is another step in the centuries-old history of The King’s School. It is a plan that seeks to bring together the hopes and aspirations of students, staff, parents and old boys towards the possibilities of another 200 years. Yet, while plans are easy, making them happen takes commitment, resources and hard work. While this plan introduces some new ideas and possibilities, we should always ensure that the distinctives that lie at the heart of King’s continue to remain certain and foundational to who we are and what we do.”
