Kosciuszko Conquerors

Hiking 19 kilometres to the summit of Australia’s highest peak is a challenge for anyone, let alone 11 and 12-year-olds.

Add in wet, foggy conditions and over 900 metres of elevation gain and it becomes an even greater test of endurance and resilience.

For Year 6 students at Tudor House, reaching the summit of Mount Kosciuszko is a proud tradition, following in the footsteps of those before them who have set the standard.

This year, joined by their friends in Year 6 from The King’s School, Preparatory School, students embraced the challenge, while knowing it would not be easy, the sense of accomplishment would make it worthwhile.

Setting out from Alpine Way along the Dead Horse Gap trail students had one goal in mind, the summit at 2,228 metres. While energy levels ebbed and flowed as they battled the uneasy alpine terrain their determination never once wavered. Through teamwork, encouragement and perseverance, every Year 6 student made it to the summit, each getting to enjoy their moment at the trig station as the tallest person in Australia.

The experience was made even more memorable by the presence of the Heads of School from each campus, Tudor, Prep and Senior, along with our Interim Headmaster, Rev Stephen Edwards.

Congratulations to our Year 6 students and the staff who supported them on this adventure.
