Unstructured play in diverse environments

Camps and Activities

Tudor House focuses on holistic education and thriving through discovery.  We look to educate the whole child by providing camps and activities.  We take learning out of the box – the classroom – and use our environment to teach a worldly respect for self, others and nature.  Children’s learning is dynamic, complex, and holistic.

Learning for Life

Tudor has revolutionised the concept of After School Care, offering a comprehensive programme that opens our school and its farmland grounds up to the wider community.  Boys and girls mix together, participating in activities that stretch, support and challenge.

School Camps – regaining a love of the wide outdoors

Tudor House offers an outdoor camp for every Year level each year…

  • Year Three camp over for one night on our grounds
  • Year Four camp out for two nights – fathers are encouraged to attend
  • Year Five camp out for two nights – this is for fathers and sons
  • Year Six camp – this is a three night challenge camp.  All skills learnt during their years participating in Kahiba are tested with professional guides and teachers in attendance.

Activities that leave others longing to be at Tudor

Billy Cart Derby Day: Every year, boys and parents come together to race the hill or enter the team pursuit circuit.  This is our race.  Billy carts vary in complexity, and the Year Six boys race the carts they have constructed in their woodwork lessons.  As boys grow in age, the starting point tracks further up the hill, giving more challenge.  After the race our community celebrates with a barbecue picnic under the trees.

Kite Flying Day – a sea of colour and fun: Flying a kite is symbolic of much that Tudor offers.  Our annual kite day combines with Grandparents’ Day.  Parents, seniors and boys all mix together in Kite Paddock, running with strings and things to get kites in the sky.  There are many models but we promote home-made kites.

Ski Week: Tudor House has long had a standing reputation as a school that promotes skiing.  We have a scheduled ski-week in the middle of Term 3, which allows our boys to participate in state championships as members of our successful ski team and as learners, joining our ski club.

More Activities

Tudor House promotes the importance of thinking positively.  Our many activities and excursions for each year group are all included in the fees.  This includes…

  • Two major excursions each year
  • Two minor excursions each year
  • Visiting shows
  • Activity days.

"We chose Tudor in the first place - to build the character of our children whilst still allowing them to be little boys. I wanted the Tom Sawyer experience for my kids..."
