Why Tudor House
At Tudor House we specialise in boys’ learning
At a time when significant investment is being made into improving boys’ education in co-educational schools, Tudor House stands at the forefront. We have a long heritage of educating boys. We specialise in boys’ education. You can be confident in our approach. Tudor House is a place where boys thrive. Boys learn differently to girls. International, national and local research all highlights the worry trends of boys falling behind.
Boys need competition. Boys need space. Boys need a broad curriculum. At Tudor we have been educating only boys for over 115 years. We believe boys need an education that is forward thinking, engaging, with high expectations and single-sex during the important academic lessons – English, Maths, Science and PDHPE.
Read a SMH article from 21 October 2011 about the benefits of risk-taking and extended play, especially for boys, and see how Tudor House is leading the way.
We specialise in primary
We are a stand-alone K-6 primary school. But we have the resources many K-12 schools would envy: our own workshop, art room, music centre, gymnasium, swimming pool, farm, outdoor education centre, library, air-conditioned classrooms, sports grounds and more. By specialising in primary we don’t have older children interacting with our junior minds. We are a safe haven for childhood. We offer safe passage into the more complicated secondary schools. Our programs are pure primary. And we are proud of our achievements!

We have the best academic program
Our boys learn as boys with content that supports boys. We have direct instruction programmes for spelling and maths every day. We have protected blocks of time for literacy and numeracy. We have our own inquiry based learning model. We offer a gifted and talented program. We have specialist lessons in music, art and woodwork – with boys in a workshop from Kindergarten! We have sport and outdoor education to challenge boys. We have a focus on learning across the week. This is a boys’ world of wonder!
We have whizzbang technology
Our technology is cutting edge – and we believe the best in the Southern Highlands. Our ICT department is The King’s School ICT department. With this support, our technology is unsurpassed for a primary school. With a headmaster who presents at national technology conferences – all we implement is carefully considered and innovative. We have a full wireless infrastructure with 10mb bandwidth supporting video conferencing and downloads.
Boarding for Years 5 & 6 adds diversity
Our boarding opportunity for Years 5 & 6 adds a new dimension that is unique to Tudor House. It is at this stage we draw together three demographics: rural boys with country values, local boys, and metropolitan children. Staying in residence offers a rich reserve of brothers and adventures of a lifetime for a lifetime.

We deliver real learning for real life
Our unique programs are strengthened with a new initiative – Learning for Life. This program provides our boys with holistic and purposeful education that will direct social, emotional and physical growth. After school, we open up to the wider public and provide activities that stretch the mind.
We have the heritage and confidence that comes with age!
We have been the jewel in the Southern Highlands for 115 years, and for a small school our connections are vast. From our pages flow amazing Australians, who built upon their Tudor House foundations to become outstanding citizens. And the breadth in their accomplishments bears testament to our broad curriculum and open philosophy. We have educated prime ministers, politicians, artists and sculptors, photographers, businessmen, ambassadors, sportsmen. Join Tudor House and you enter a network with tendrils stretching across all elements of society. Old Tudorians are held in high-regard. Our boys make friends that last a lifetime.
