Welcome from the Headmaster
As Headmaster of Tudor House, I am honoured to hold the helm of this icon of Australian education. Our close affiliation with The King’s School affords us resources envied by other primary schools. Tudor is all about educating boys academically, emotionally and socially. We believe in holistic learning.
Learning is Holistic
We offer The Learning Hub. Our own unique programme consisting of LearningCentral, Food for Learning, and Learning for Life. At a time when many schools are narrowing their focus on NAPLAN results, promoting test-taking using drill-and-kill repetition, we boldly maintain the view primary education is of primary importance. It is about offering a wide-breadth of learning opportunities. I believe quality education is based on three keys: Care, Curriculum and Communication. All are emphasized at Tudor House.
Our Vision
Our vision is far-reaching. We look to establish the learning habits, attitudes and skills that sustain success in the future. At the heart of my vision is Learning. Our remarkable people all strive to give of their best in the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning.
Small Class Sizes
At Tudor House, our small and personal size means we can identify and support each boy (I know them all!). Tudor is a stand-alone K-6 school. We educate based on Primary school principles - we don't get caught in a K-12 'super-size-me' learning system, but we do have the resources expected of a top independent high school.
Our Values
My focus is on educating boys in the 'new' three 'R's: Respect, Responsibility and Relationships. I firmly believe in the importance of developing in every boy emotional intelligence, please read Thriving at School – a book I co-authored with renowned child psychologist, Dr John Irvine. Review my blog and you will get a good feel for my focus.
Freedom to be a Boy
I am very proud of our achievements - from the traditions of the past to those we are developing for our future. This is an exciting and energised school. It holds onto 'common-sense' approaches and offers boys more freedom than you could expect of primary schools: boys ride bikes, climb trees, ride skateboards, camp outdoors, and build bases . Freedom is bestowed on our boys because we trust childhood. Childhood is a life - not an apprenticeship!
Come and See For Yourself
It isn’t possible to cram into these few online pages the incredible diversity on offer at Tudor House. I recommend you take some time to explore our world – you will be pleasantly surprised at all we offer!
