Caring to make a difference
Tudor House is blessed with staff who have a focus on looking after those in their care, being the role models for care, concern and compassion. Two Houses exist to care for groups of boys. The Boarding House (Medley) caters for the Pastoral needs of the Boarders. The day boys belong to Fisher House. The House, named after the second Headmaster (The Rev. Fisher), provides a focus and pastoral care for the day boys.
The School is structured to encourage these aspects. Several systems operate allowing boys to meet many staff, and other boys, in order to be supported and cared for.
The House System
All boys are divided into one of three Colour Groups (Blue, Red, White). These groups are vertical groupings (Kindergarten to Year 6) and are cared for by three staff members. The boys elect their Colour Captains. Houses and Colours
The Colours focus on a variety of activities, but in particular sports competitions, cultural competitions and supporting each other. Boys remain in their Colour for their time at School. Brothers join the same group and sons will be in the same Colour as their father.
Colour Family - Peer Support
Fifteen groups have been created so boys can mix with others to form bonds and new friends. These vertical groups, which differ from the Colours, allow for further mixing of the groups of boys. These Colour Family groups meet fortnightly and discuss matters surrounding a key theme, such as Responsibility, Respect, Relationships.
Monitor Meetings
The Headmaster meets regularly with all monitors (boys who have responsibilities for the good running of the school). These meetings discuss areas that need sharpening, and open up a forum for discussion. Such responsibility promotes pride and connectedness.
Moot Meetings
The Headmaster or Deputy hold regular meetings with all Year 6 boarders to consider issues pertinent to the boys. This forum opens up opportunities for new ideas to be explored and gives the boy a voice in the running of the school.
