A technology centre of excellence

Excelling with Technology

Tudor House is a centre of excellence for technology.  Our computer systems and innovative approaches to engaging with e-learning and social media are carefully balanced.
Our adage is simple…Computers for learning not for leisure.

Investment in your son’s future

Tudor House has invested in learning technology.  Our school is fully equipped with a wireless network, meaning we can connect anywhere, anytime.  Every classroom is equipped with a wall-bank of computers, a printer, interactive whiteboard, audio-visual support, and access to rapid downloads with a 10mb connection.  All our staff have docking stations - making the use of technology easy and reliable.

Comprehensive resources

Tudor House has two laptop trolleys for classes to use.  We have two computer labs – one situated in our library.  Every teacher has a laptop and can access our network from home to stay connected.  We have three drop down projector screens for large-scale presentations – keeping boys engaged.

Deliberate and considered scope and sequence

Tudor House has developed in-house its own scope and sequence based on national standards for developing skills, programmes and processes that carefully layer the learning elements associated with e-learning and computer use.

Multimedia for engaging and teaching

Assembly and Chapel are both resourced with drop down screens and data projectors.  This access to the information highway offers unique opportunities for us to use multimedia to educate and expand understanding.  We use video clips, web links and presentation software to entertain and educate.

Computers for assessment

We use cutting edge technology to engage and track progress.  Our boys are assessed using smart technology – giving immediate feedback.  We have an electronic markbook, so marks are stored and tracked over the duration of a student’s time at Tudor House.  We have the software for addressing individual needs.

Technology for communication

We have equipped a bank of computers with Skype for communicating with parents and other students.  We have video conferencing technology in our lecture theatre.  We connect with students from other schools in other countries, using the global highway to share ideas.

Technology for administration

We have a database system for administration.  Reports, interviews and progress can all be stored, analysed and retrieved. We utilise social media networks such as Twitter to keep parents up-to-date, feeding information via their smart phone.  A comprehensive weekly newsletter is emailed to all parents.

Using Social Media

Our learning opportunities extend beyond the timetabled classes.  We utilize social media to communicate and share.  Our boys become learners and teachers, instructing others, sharing thoughts and brainstorming concepts.

Software for Learning

Tudor House has screened and incorporated software that has been proven to support individual learning.  All licences are included in Learning Central fees:

  • Accelerated Reader – reading software that tracks and maps progress
  • Mathletics and Spellodrome
  • Lexia – individualized reading programme
  • TypeQuick – touch typing software that is promoted in computer lessons
